cancelled so guess what we are going to do? That's
right! We are hosting a public party instead!
Do we know much about Cricut Swarms? Not yet, but
we have one major ingredient...the most talented
designers on staff that sure know how to get the most
out of the Cricut and Expression machines from
Provocraft! So here's the plan: we have room
for the first 24 swarmers to bring in their machines and
cartridges and get ready for a fun-filled day complete
with live demonstrations, prizes, and a project for each
one of you. As I understand it, this is a great
opportunity to try out different cartridges that you can
swap while you are here AND we can teach you how to get
the most from your machines! You never know...we
are hoping to learn a thing or two as well! The
cost is $10 and you get to crop,
I mean swarm, from 10:00

Famous Last Words
Seems like I
always learn more
by falling on my face than by being shown the way. You'd
think I'd know better after two careers involved with
things electronic, but nooooo. Case in point. A
couple of months ago, we had a party. Shirley
says to me, grab the video camera. Well, me, the big
believer in backup, I'm all set! Not only do I have one
video camera, but I have two! (Both identical, it's a
long story.) Not only that, but I have three
batteries (one standard one for each camera plus a high
capacity backup). All the batteries are dead and
the charger is nowhere to be found (believe me, I
looked everywhere).
Shirley got a new
digital camera a couple of months ago. We took it to San
Francisco with us. Where's it's charger? We came
to the conclusion it eloped with the camcorder
charger!!! Equally nowhere to be found, and let me tell
you our house isn't that large! Okay, so Radio
Shack to the rescue with a charger that will charge
both types of batteries. Voila! Life is
good.
Fast forward to the
Summer CHA show. Want to know why there were no
pictures on the website? Bet by now you can guess.
That's right, we arrived only to find that the Canon's
battery was deader than the proverbial doornail!
Do I have a spare battery? No way. But I do
have two chargers for it!
Sometimes you just can't
win.
Well, I guess the moral of
my sad tale is to learn from my mistakes. Next time you
know you are taking a trip, make sure you have a spare
battery for your digital equipment, and be sure to
(locate and) pack the charger. It's very hard to
scrapbook those pictures that never got taken. I think
Shirley's forgiven me by now, but I'm not totally
sure.
Argh!
